Throughout the residency, wild Up musicians will have the opportunity to explore their individual interests through a chamber music series.

This week Richard Valitutto performs Inner Child, Old Soul, a program of solo works for toy piano. Compositions by John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Michael Finnissy, Jerome Kitzke and new works by LA’s own Matt Barbier and Daniel Corral.

Described by the LA Times as “vigorously virtuosic” and “building vast cathedrals of sound from single melodic lines”, Richard Valitutto is active in the Los Angeles area as a piano soloist, chamber musician, accompanist, teacher, writer, and composer. He has given numerous premieres of works for solo piano and various ensembles and has worked with composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Steve Reich, Chinary Ung, Clarence Barlow, and Marc Sabat. Richard is a founding member of two LA-based chamber ensembles, gnarwhallaby and The Joshua Trio, in addition to his continuous work with the critically acclaimed Los Angeles group, wild Up Modern Music Collective, with which he performs duties as pianist/keyboardist, creative team-member, and librarian. Richard holds degrees from the California Institute of the Arts (MFA) and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (BM). More information at www.richardvalitutto.net.
