Los Angeles, California 90024

We’re performing selections from four of our favorite operas by Los Angeles composers — Daniel Corral’s Zoophilic Follies, Veronika Krausas’ The Mortal Thoughts of Lady MacBeth, Anne LeBaron’s Crescent City, and Isaac Schankler’s Light and Power. You can expect larger-than-life portrayals of fascinating figures from Greek mythology, Shakespearean tragedy, Creole legend, and American scientific history. Featuring the talents of Timur and the Dime Museum, plus an array of guest musicians and singers.

About Timur and the Dime Museum

Formed as a result of collaboration with the Klaus Nomi songwriter Kristian Hoffman, dark glam opera band Timur and the Dime Museum, described by Los Angeles Times as “punk-operatic spectacle”, appeared at the prestigious ALOUD series; America’s Got Talent; opened for Tiger Lilies, The Red Paintings, Prince Poppycock; Un-cabaret (Margaret Cho); premiered operas “Zoophilic Follies” by Daniel Corral at Redcat Theater’s NOW festival, and “Crescent City” by Anne LeBaron. Led by “stratospheric tenor” (LA Times) TimurBekbosunov, recently featured in LA Weekly’s BEST OF LA 2011, the band embraces multi-disciplinary collaboration as part of their ongoing work with composers and songwriters. They established a strong following of fans, and received endorsements from artists, such as Amanda Palmer, Nick Urata and Sondre Lerche, and in the past two years band performed in numerous venues around LA and beyond, including Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle. The band creates unconventional and fascinating sounds, combiningTimur’s voice with electric guitar, upright bass, accordion, bass clarinet, viola, and drums.
