In April and May we accompany ate9 dance company in their new project with composer, Jodie Landau.
‘mouth to mouth’ is to be a fifty-five minute contemporary dance piece created by Danielle Agami for a cast of eight to nine dancers. The title stems from the possible interpretations of its intimate connotation: dialogue, resuscitation, and lovemaking. The work touches upon what we all have in common— communication, the lack of communication, the things we miss, the things that get old, and the gaps in between. The subject matter is translated on stage using jarring physicality, sense of humor, and subtle innuendoes.
While the dancers are at the forefront of the production, collaboration with a multitude of diverse artists add layers to the work. Agami will focus on conversations that offer a glimpse of a larger story. The production will also include an original score by Los Angeles based composer, Jodie Landau. Each element is developed to stand alone, yet the infinite possibilities of combining moments between these artistic mediums will elevate the evening.
